Seated Classes (Column A)

Welcome to the Seated class portion of the Partnership.  Seated classes simply mean that the student will spend a minimum amount of time as a student somewhere on Berrien Springs Schools' campus during the school day.

All Partnership students are required to take one seated class from the list below, though each student may take two.

Spring 2012 Seated Class Description and Schedule

Experiencing Arts and Technology (also known as the Fieldtrip Class)   Our field trip class is officially called Experiencing Arts and Technology, because each trip is designed to explore some aspect of those areas of study in a fun and educational manner.  It is the most popular seated class offered in the Partnership because of the variety and quality of the trips.  Details on fieldtrips and requirements for this class.

Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls.  Our core curriculum address many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being.  Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.  Participation in the program includes a new pair of New Balance tennis shoes, T-shirt, water bottle and more!  A minimum of 8 girls, grade 3-5 or a minimum of 8 girls grades 6-8, are required to launch the class.  See Girls on the Run® for more information.

We will also learn how to keep a basic budget and how to manage our finances from the time we start earning money.

For instance, students will learn simple cooking skills, how to sort and do laundry, create a grocery list, keep recipe cards, try their hand at sewing, canning, budgeting, and so much more. These are great skills for both guys and girls to learn.

Entrepreneurship – grades 6-12 Continued from Fall Semester (Fri 9:30 - 10:45)
Entrepreneurship - grades 6-12 for new spring students (Fri 1:00-2:30)
In this class we will be learning the basics about starting one’s own business. Entrepreneurship is being recognized as a viable career option in today’s work world.  Generation E (Entrepreneurship) is a widely known and respected curriculum around Michigan for middle and high school students.   Past Partnership and public school students have had great success in learning a great deal about the subject and have won major prizes at spring exhibitions.
We will look at some of the students’ interests, talents, and abilities and we will learn how to apply these skills to creating a business as well as what entrepreneurship is, some of the rewards and risks of owning your own business, what our resources are, business and social etiquette, and so much more.  Link for more information on this class.

Yearbook – grades 6-12 (Fri 11:15-12:30)
Yearbook will focus on composing, arranging and printing of pictures in either a final hard copy or digital format.  Work will include giving titles and descriptions of scenes used.  Since students will be asked to visit other Partnership locations to gather pictures and information, some flexibility will be required outside of classroom time.  The final project will either be a composition of Partnership and homeschool life as a class or personal memento.
